Winding down from a year in full time employment

Well it is not only 5 days until Xmas but 23 days until Josh and i head over to Europe!!!! (and who is counting?)

Today is a milestone for me however, as i am finishing up at the Terrace, where i have been employed all of this year and started my career...
I am feeling a little sad, however ,i have constant butterflies in my stomach thinking of the experiences ahead..!
I will miss everyone at the Terrace and will be sure to stay in touch on our adventures and expeditions on the other side fo the world.

2 more days left of work this week however and Josh is officailly 'unemployed', this seems a little scary however i know that he is very excited to leave also.
With a few days in January to tie us over in the money department, i will officially be finished full time employment this Friday also!!!

( i feel like everything that i am doing these days in counting...)

Thankyou All at the Terrace for allowing me to have the best year at work and for teaching me soo many things that i will take with me wherever i go....
Cheers
Erika (P)

In anticpation

Life before the journey

25 days remaining until we Jet off into the night and onto a new world! With the last few days of work whittling away and Christmas just around the corner everything seems to have slowed down to a crawl. The days are lasting a little longer and the nights seem to be slower, I think the anticipation is starting to take its hold on me.

To read or not to read? Self education was is a big thing for me, deciding how much to read before I go and how detailed I should be researching is a contant struggle. Should I keep details from myself to enjoy the whole experience more or educte myself to avoid the possible boring bits or uneventful experiences? I have been drawn almost inevidably towards the all mighty wiki! http://wikitravel.org/en/Europe is a constant source of information and along with our Lonely Planet book seems to offer enough info without revealing every little detail.

There is no real travel plan at the moment apart from a few key destinations and that is how I would like it to stay, Erika on the other hand loves to be organised! After much back and forward discussion we have settled on the middle ground, by planning some things in advance and letting other things slide we give each other the security and flexability we are after. I am sure that this will probably change one way or another once the journey begins.

After reading all of that, Welcome to the travel adventures of Josh Pope and Erika Barratt.
